Recently, I conducted my first interview. And it was with none other than Jamie Varon of Twittershouldhireme.com. Sweet, smart, sexy and driven; Miss Varon definitely has NEXT.

When I first started tweeting, I actually did a search, I think, for female bloggers & tweeters to chat with. I know, I probably had ulterior motives for wanting to chat with hotties from the internet, but that is for another blog. Somehow, I stumbled upon Twittershouldhireme.com and came across this beautiful woman who was very into working for Twitter. First I was like, WTF! How come I didn’t think of that. Then I remembered, oh yeah, I’m a little caught up with email designs so I can’t start a website to get a job. Well, I started skimming through the site & found the Twitter link and started to follow Jamie Varon, a twentysomething blogger and designer from California with a passion for all things Twitter. What really caught my attention was her Tweets regarding her mother’s comments on Jamie’s life. The humor and relationship with family while trying to get what can only be described as her “Dream Job” definitely kept me. Then I saw the eyes. Yeah people, the eyes. Oh, and it doesn’t hurt that she can design and uses Wordpress. Now bare in mind, this is my first interview ever. So if it seems a little random, it is. If it seems like I really didn’t know what to ask, I didn’t. And let’s be real here: If she wasn’t in California & available – I would have totally asked her out on a date.

Who are you?

Jamie Varon

Please explain what you do (career) in ten words?

I am the founder of Shatterboxx Media, a graphic design and consulting company.

What is your claim to “Fame”?

I’d say my claim to fame at this point would be twittershouldhireme.com and scoring interviews from CNN and Fortune Magazine.

Tell us about Twittershouldhireme.com?

It was a website I made in order to get Twitter’s attention because I really wanted to work for them. I have no idea where the idea came from, but it hit me in a flash one day and I thought that it would be an interesting campaign to run.

How did/has it gone?

It has helped me to feel more established in the social media space. It was a great jumping off point for my career and continues to provide surprising ventures, like talking to The Ellen Show about a guest appearance! (No go on that, but it was still really interesting.)

You have now started “Intersectedblog.com“, what is your plan/endgoal?

My plan is to continue writing there and to build my following up. I am still trying to figure out my voice there, so stay tuned!

Who was/is your inspiration?

My inspiration will always be authenticity – when people follow their heart and go for what they want. People who do not accept limitations inspire me consistently.

How did you get started on your career path?

I started designing websites and people liked them, so I thought, hey, I could actually design for a living. I’ve been designing for almost four years, but I never considered it to be a viable career path until now.

What do you want to see more of in your career/passion?

I want to write more and focus on blogging as a full time effort.

What motivates you everyday?

I am motivated by greatness and passion everyday. I am motivated by the desire to truly make a difference.

Last time you had a bad “creative” day?
How did you deal with it?
What did you learn?

The last time I had a bad creative day I ended up staring at the computer screen without even an ounce of inspiration. It was terrible. I learned that whenever that happens again, I’m just going to go read a book, because forcing the creativity never works out well.

How does the opposite sex fit into the industry of work you do? As in, dating?

It doesn’t. I can’t find that balance yet.

Where do you see social media going from its current state now?

I see social media expanding even further and equalizing brands to their consumers, celebrities to their fans, and other such relationships that are usually hierarchical instead of linear.

Where do you see yourself fitting in how the interweb/internet is being developed?

I’ll continue to stay involved and probably end up situating myself in a niche. Not sure which one yet, but I think my niche and my community will come to me organically.

Please explain where you want to go with your life/career in ten words?

What else? I want to change the world.

Random questions of nutty goodness:

A day with three people throughout history?

Judd Apatow, Seth Godin, and Dane Cook

Red or Blue pill?

Red.

December 12, 2012: What do you know about it? How does it effect how you plan your future?

I think it sounds awesome. Nothing we can do to stop the madness, so we might as well embrace it once it comes.

Favorites:

Publishing platform?

Photoshop

OS?

Mac OS X

Color?

Green

Place to visit/travel?

Hawaii

Vehicle to own/drive/wreck?

Something swanky like a hybrid.

App/Software?

iChat

Movie/Song/Meal?

Stepmom, “Hometown Glory” by Adele, Teriyaki chicken & tempura.

A little more personal:

What or who makes you laugh without fail?

My younger brother, Nick.

You are single, what does a person have to do to catch your interest?

Simple. Make me laugh.

How does family/friends play into your life/career?

I spend as much time with them as I can, although currently I am not spending as much time as I would like. There are certain tradeoffs that I am having to make right now, but eventually it will balance out (that’s the hope anyways!)

How do you “pay it forward” aka, give back to the world or your community – however small?

I try to influence people on an individual level to be authentic and let go of hate. Hate fuels too much misery in this world and if you can change one person’s worldview, then they can change another person’s.

Shoutouts/Parting shots?

Subscribe to intersected!

Where can people find you to follow your work/career/life?

www.intersectedblog.com. My company website is: www.shatterboxx.com.

Please give some advice to anyone looking to follow somewhat in your footsteps in 140 characters or less?

Most people will try to hold you back, so don’t let them.

Me and having a blog has been a long time coming. I’ve half-heartedly experimented and tried to work with other blogging systems, but yet – none of them makes me feel so damn sexy as Wordpress. It’s always a challenge to start a new project, way of life, movement, etc. Especially when you are creative. But this time, I am trying something new. Instead of trying to learn how to make something look the way I want and delay sharing and expressing myself, I took what has already been done and just let it work for me. I think that is the first step in learning anything new – take what is there and shaping it to your needs, then with time, learn how to make it your own and then make your own to give back to others you have learned and taken from.

This is my second interview and its with none other that Jun Loayza. If you don’t know why it’s a lifestyle to be an Entrepreneur, you definitely should read why Jun has NEXT.

Who are you?

My name is Jun Loayza and I am the founder of Future Delivery where we’re building Viralogy, the social media rank. I currently host a show called Awesome Revolution, am a contributor for Personal Branding Blog, and have written for Mashable. I grew up in Southern California and graduated from UCLA in 2007 with a degree in Economics and Philosophy. I love hitting up the gym, playing basketball, surfing, and my girlfriend Kim Ear.

Please explain what you do (career) in ten words?

I rank people based on social influence online.

What is your claim to “Fame”?

Hopefully my show Awesome Revolution has made me at least a little bit famous in the blogosphere.

You are most notable for “JunLoayza.com“, tell us about that?

I started my personal blog last year as a way to document my successes and struggles as a young entrepreneur. I am generating income from my blog (nothing major but at least it pays for my phone and gym bills), and have leveraged my blog to meet some amazing people online. When Viralogy.com become a hit, I see more and more people using my blog as a source of inspiration to start their own ventures.

How has it gone?

Like I said, JunLoayza.com is a way for me to express my highs and lows in the startup life. I receive many daily emails from young entrepreneurs asking me for advice. I do the very best that I can to answer every email with a valuable response.

What are your new ventures for 2009 and beyond?

Viralogy.com is our main project. The site will be the platform that ranks people based on their online influence. We will aggregate your Blog stats (subscribers, uniques, page views), Twitter stats (followers, following, ratio), Facebook, LinkedIn, Digg, Stumble, and other social media statistics. With your stats, we will give you a score that you can use to compare yourself to your peers to see who is the most influential in a certain category or topic.

Who was/is your inspiration?

We wanted to help bloggers better promote themselves and provide them with a platform that allowed the small, lesser known bloggers to get noticed. We believe in helping those who are not well known yet become superstars.

How did you get started on your career path?

As an undergraduate at UCLA, I started a company with my business partner Yu-kai Chou. After graduating from UCLA, I joined a litigation and corporate finance consulting firm in Downton LA. After 3 months, I realized that the corporate world was just not for me and I decided to step away from the corporate world to do the startup life full-time. I haven’t looked back since.

What do you want to see more of in your career/passion?

I want to see less theory, and more concrete, actionable steps taken. Too many people give advice through their blog, but it’s all meaningless because they’re just spitting theory that has no concrete data. I want people to actually have lived through their advice before they give it.

What motivates you everyday?

Like anyone else, I am motivated by my family, friends, and girlfriend. However, I feel I am unique in that I would still be doing what I am doing even if I didn’t have them. I am self-motivated and am an entrepreneur because that’s who I am. I work hard every night and day because that’s what my DNA tells me to do. When I fail, I get back up not because I want a big house or jet when I’m rich; I get back up because I don’t know how to stay down. It is in my nature to keep pushing forward.

Last time you had a bad “creative” day? How did you deal with it? What did you learn?

A bad “creative” day? I don’t think I’ve ever lacked creativity. I’m usually at my best when I’m on the treadmill at the gym. Once I get those endorphins going, I start spitting some mad creativity.

Minorities in your industry:

Give me your view on how your race/nationality fits into the industry of work you do? (I am sure there is a better way to ask this question, I haven’t thought of it though. )

I am half Japanese and half Peruvian. Race has never played in part in determining who I am as a person and who I choose to socialize with.

Where do you see social media going from its current state now?

I see everyone and everything going towards less privacy. Once our generation takes control, you’ll notice that ALL information is received via the web or wirelessly on your phone. Once our generation hits 35, I believe the early tweens will begin dominating the internet scene. Just how the Gen X feel ike us Gen Y are too entitled, we will feel that the tweens are “entitled”.

Where do you see yourself fitting in how the inter-web/internet is being developed?

I see Viralogy.com as the platform that determines who is influential, what is influential, and ultimately determining your social status online. This will play a huge role now that personal branding is the most important phrase of 2009.

Please explain where you want to go with your life/career in ten words?

I want to make Future Delivery the next Google

Random questions of nutty goodness:

Red or Blue pill?

Blue Pill

December 12, 2012: What do you know about it?
How does it effect how you plan your future?
